WILDWOOD/VILLAGE MILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

METHODIST MESSENGER

VOLUME 21, NUMBER 5                                                               SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER 2017

FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

HURRICANE RELIEF IS ON  THE  WAY

Our church hosted a community wide round table discussion concerning on-going efforts for Flood Relief.  All the major groups and organizations in Wildwood were represented.  We had over 30 people in attendance.  We are working on a plan to coordinate all of our efforts to provide as much assistance as possible to residents in Wildwood and Village Mills.  This is wonderful opportunity for this community to come together in ways that will benefit everyone.

A lot of important information came out of the meeting.  If you do any work around your house or have volunteers or pay someone for services, related to the flood please document the number of hours worked,   Also document any power tools that were used and how many hours they were used so that this information.  All of this information can be turned into the Wildwood office and used to receive grant money from FEMA.  Forms are available at the Wildwood office.

The Fire Department is still providing water and other essential items, and the Lodge has been set up by the Civic Club to provide clothing, water, food, diapers and other necessary items for free distribution.  The Baptist Church has already been set up as a shelter and they are providing 3 meals a day to evacuees and first responders.

The Civic Club has already set up a Harvey Relief Fund that will be the primary fund used here in Wildwood for all the donations and grants that we receive.  Please make your checks out to: “Wildwood Civic Club” and “Harvey Relief” on the memo line.

It is also important to remember that our neighbors across the Highway in Village Mills are included in our Emergency Management Area.  They will be included in all of the relief efforts that take place.  Please welcome them with open arms.  This is an excellent opportunity to get to know some of those families that live outside our gate.  As a church this is an outreach opportunity that we do not want to miss.

A big thanks to all of you that have already donated time and resources to help your neighbors.  This is when we can be the hands and feet of Christ to our community.

Serving with you,  Randy and Rene’.
