WILDWOOD/VILLAGE MILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
METHODIST MESSENGER
VOLUME 21, NUMBER 3 MAY, JUNE 2017
FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
BLESSINGS AND OPPORTUNITIES
We have had a wonderful start to 2017. The Lord continues to shower us with many amazing blessings. The ministry of the church continues to expand, which allows us to reach more people with the message of Christ.
As the ministry of the church expands so do the opportunities for service. We have some great opportunities that need your help with prayers and participation. I hope you will prayerfully consider looking for a new place to serve.
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR BLESSINGS:
· There are quite a few more new residents in Wildwood than we have had in quite some time. Our Evangelism Committee has had the chance to make a number of new contacts, and some of these new residents have already visited our church.
· The Cecil Project (the Warren UMC Food Pantry) has expanded its ministry to now include clothing for the needy. We are excited about the privilege we have had to help support and grow the Cecil Project.
· We are learning new ways to reach out to our community. One of those ways is Social Media. We are in the process of expanding our Facebook page and our website. Another new program is our third Thursday evening Game Night which is open to the community. Another new program brought to us by our new members the Millers is getting connected with prison ministry through Kairos Ministries.
AS A RESULT OF THESE BLESSINGS HERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES:
· The Evangelism Committee would ask anyone who knows any of our new residents to contact us and help us to make contact with them and invite them to church.
· Our Social Media ministry needs photographers who will submit pictures of our church events to the church office to post on Facebook and active Social Media members help us spread the news about church events.
· Come and invite friends and neighbors to new Game Night program because it is great outreach in a casual and fun setting.
· On May 15th we will begin our Grief Support Group led by Dr, George Graham. Please pass the word to anyone you know who could benefit from the opportunity to deal with this difficult issue.
· Prayerfully consider working with Kairos Prison Ministry. This is highly rewarding work that provides the opportunity to see lives dramatically changed for Jesus Christ. Contact Scott Miller.
Prayerfully we will continue following Jesus command to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked and visit those in prison. The choice is ours. We choose loving, and giving, and serving as far as God wants to take us.
Loving, giving, and serving with you,
Randy and Rene’

NEWS FROM THE PEWS
OUTREACH
During the months of March and April, we collected jam/jelly, and cornbread mix. The Outreach committee divided 101 jars of jelly/jam and 218 boxes/envelopes of cornbread mix between the Christian Loving Care Center in Kountze, Caring is Sharing in Woodville, and the pantry in the Warren Methodist church. Thank you so much for your donations and support! Here are the upcoming donation items.
Food Item Donations
MAY 2lb Bag of Sugar
JUNE 2lb Bag of Flour
We also collect empty egg cartons. You can bring those at anytime. Please bring donated items and place them in the outreach box in the Fellowship Hall, to the left of Pastor Randy's office. Thank you!
GAME NIGHT!
Game nights are on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm. May 18th and June 15th are the next two dates. Bring your favorite game, or just bring yourself and play what is already set up!
INSTRUMENT SALE
The church is continuing to upgrade our worship instruments. We began with the purchase of our new grand piano for the sanctuary, and we want to continue with a keyboard for use in the choir room and in our contemporary services. That means that we have 3 pianos and an electronic organ (the one in the choir room) that are no longer needed and we would like to offer them to the congregation for purchase. If you would like to submit a bid on any of these instruments, please turn them in to the church office. The Trustees Committee will make the decisions. Funds raised from the sales will go towards the purchase of the new keyboard.
The deadline to place your bids is Monday, May 15. There is no minimum bid.
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP BEGINS
Monday May 15th at 2pm we will have our first Grief Support Meeting. It will be led by our own Dr. George Graham who has led these groups in the past. It is an 8 week program but can continue longer if needed. You may sign up in the church office or you are welcome to just come on May 15th.
LAST SUNDAY MEALS
There will be a meal on Sunday, May 28. There will be no meal in June.
