A Color for Every Season -- Liturgical Colors and What They Mean

"Do you ever walk into your Sunday morning worship service and say, 'Oh, look, the colors have changed!'?"

Liturgical colors are displayed in the banners on the wall, altar, pulpit and lectern, as well as in the stoles the Pastor and choir members wear on Sunday mornings. The colors are determined by the time of year.

In Wildwood UMC, regardless of what season we are in, the pastor/choir will always wear white on the first Sunday of every month, because that is when we take communion.

WHITE -- Purity, holiness, celebration

BLUE/PURPLE -- Royalty, penitence

GREEN -- Growth

RED -- Fire, passion
